Stressing about your teen’s social media?

Picture this

It’s a Thursday afternoon and your teen is sitting at the kitchen table - texting instead of doing their homework. You sigh and walk past them to the fridge.

Later that night, your family is sitting down for dinner and your teen is scrolling instagram. You ask them how their day was and they don’t reply. They didn’t hear you. Louder this time, you ask them, “how was your day?”

“Huh?” they respond, as they look up from their phone.

You’re getting frustrated and tell them, “please put your phone in your room while we eat dinner.” They roll their eyes, walk to their room, and throw their phone on their bed.

Later that night you’re heading to bed and you hear laughter coming from your teen’s room. You smile and peak your head in. They’re laying in their bed, phone illuminating their face, just inches from their nose.

You feel so discouraged. It breaks your heart to think your teen is so dependent on their phone. You walk in and take their phone from them, it’s just too much, their phone use is out of control.

“That’s it,” you say calmly - no phone for a week.

Your teen is outraged, “you can’t do that!” they say.

It doesn’t have to be this way.

You can both have successful, meaningful conversations with your teen about how to navigate the digital world and avoid imposing unrealistic rules (or throwing their phone out the window).

What if you knew exactly what to do to help your teen manage social media?

Navigating phone use for teens can be like wandering through the fire swamp (Princess Bride reference anyone?). But in this case you’re running into sexting, bad-acting influencers, and days lost to mindless scrolling (some of y’all might actually prefer the rodents of unusual size).

I’ve created a course that centers a realistic and balanced approach that actually engages your teen (something that’s missing from the usual conversation about teens and technology).

You can get the right tools and mindset to partner with your teen towards a healthy digital life.

❌ No shame

❌ No bans

❌ No fear tactics

Just practical guidance about how to create boundaries, build skills that last a lifetime, and identify risks that make an impact on teens’ mental health.

What Folks Are Saying

What You’ll Learn

Reframe How you Think about Social Media

Start to shift your perspective on your teen's digital world from fear-based to evidence-based. You'll discover the three main approaches parents take toward technology, learn why your teen's gravitation toward social media actually supports crucial adolescent development, and understand practical risk reduction strategies that work in the real world.

01

How to Start (or Continue) the Conversation

Learn how to bridge the digital divide by becoming genuinely curious about your teen's online world. You'll get specific question frameworks to explore their social media use without triggering defensiveness, plus practical strategies for getting hands-on experience with the platforms they love (yes, you'll actually need to try them yourself!).

02

Identify and Incorporate Values

Discover how to create a shared foundation for your family's digital life by getting crystal clear on what matters most to all of you. You and your teen will each identify your core values, then come together to explore where they overlap and differ - often with surprising results. This isn't about imposing your values on your teen; It's about creating authentic alignment where everyone feels heard and respected, giving you both a compass for navigating digital decisions together.

03

All About Boundaries

Learn how to set realistic, collaborative boundaries that actually work in the digital age. We'll cover everything from helping your teen curate a healthier feed to practical privacy settings that protect their data without feeling overly restrictive. You'll explore the monitoring debate - including the pros, cons, and surprising research on surveillance apps - and discover how to build trust-based systems that keep your teen safer than any app ever could.

04

Social Media and Relationships (Parts 1 and 2)

Understand how social media has fundamentally transformed teen friendships and dating - because as one teen put it, "our entire social life is linked to it” now. You'll learn to recognize both the genuine benefits and real pitfalls of digital relationships, while helping your teen navigate everything from online friendships to romantic connections safely. (This section had so much content, I had to break it into 2 modules.)

05

Real Risks and Warning Signs

Learn to distinguish between media hype and genuine concerns by exploring the real research on social media's impact on body image, sleep, and mental health. You'll discover evidence-based strategies for addressing disordered eating triggers, curating healthier feeds, and navigating artificial intelligence. Most importantly, you'll learn the actual warning signs that warrant professional help and how to have those difficult conversations when you're genuinely worried about your teen's wellbeing.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • The course is available for pre-sale now through November 9th. That means that you can buy the course now at a discount but won’t be able to access the content until November 10th. You’ll pay and create your account, but the lessons won’t appear in your library until November 10th.

  • There are 6 video lessons plus a short introduction and conclusion. The total watch time is a little less than 3.5 hours. Each of the 6 lessons are designed to be viewed individually and range from 13-36 minutes each. After each video you’re prompted to pause and complete the workbook pages for that section of the course. The total amount of time to go through the whole course is dependent on how much time you take completing the workbook prompts with your teen. I would encourage you to complete it at your own pace. Watch one lesson and do the workbook over the course of a week, a month, or whatever timeframe works for your family.

  • The content includes 7 recorded video lessons for parents and a PDF workbook for parents and teens to do together. The workbook comes as a fillable PDF that you can complete digitally or print and complete by hand.

  • Your access never expires - keep access to the materials forever and also receive any future updates to the content.

  • The information and workbook prompts are the best fit for parents of teens ages 13-17 or for parents of pre-teens hoping to get a jump start on these conversations.

  • The both/and approach is how I see social media - that it can both be harmful and there’s more to the story. Social media is a tool - it all depends on how we use it and how we support the teens in our lives to use it. Very few things in life are truly black and white. The both/and approach recognizes shades of gray and helps you see both the risks and the rewards of teen social media use.

  • Even if your teen won’t participate in the workbook activities, this course is still extremely valuable for parents to gain a helpful mindset and strategies to use with their teen(s). Plus you can easily sneak some of the workbook prompts into everyday conversation.

  • Yes! Even better. Taking this course before your teen is on social media will prepare you to have the important conversations and set healthy boundaries together in advance.

  • It’s definitely not too late! The course will help you reset and reframe the social media conversation even if you’re already having challenges around these topics with your teen.

  • That’s ok! But also, this course is probably not for you. I believe in every family’s right to choose how to approach this topic. If you don’t agree with the approach I’m proposing, I support your right to choose.
